Pretty Little Liars’ Keegan Allen on Spencer and Toby’s Big Blowout — Exclusive
Spoby fans, beware. If you’ve seen the promo for tonight’s Pretty Little LiarsSeason 4, Episode 11: "Bring Down the Hoe," then you already know that Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Toby (Keegan Allen) are headed for some major drama in tonight’s episode. Wetpaint Entertainment spoke exclusively with Keegan Allen for the inside scoop on what brings on Toby and Spencer’s big fight.
“Toby is trying to find out about his past, and it's a very sensitive subject,” he tells us. “And we've seen him sleuth with Dr. Palmer and Eddie Lamb and all these people that worked at Radley, and now he's trying to keep something a secret from all of Spencer's friends. It's just something that's like a bruise that he doesn't want to be pushed. The fight erupts from letting that slip through Spencer's fingers.”
Unfortunately for Toby, Spencer isn’t exactly being the most supportive girlfriend to her struggling and emotionally vulnerable BF. “She makes a choice.” Keegan says. “This is an episode that we also see "A" mess with him even further. He's kind of lost and zoned out. He’s totally out of it from the moment that the season started, when he gets that text about his mother.”
Once again, Toby’s quest to find out more about his mom comes in direct conflict with the Liars and their needs. And Spencer has to make a choice.
“And this just furthers his involvement, grabbing at all the evidence he can to piece together his mother's past and what really happened to her. "A" takes advantage of him in this episode and almost lands him in pretty hot water.”
Toby knows Spencer cares for him, but he can’t help but feeling a bit betrayed by some of her actions. “Yeah, I mean, when you look at it as a whole, you kind of see both sides of the coin. Spencer is not maliciously revealing anything. I don't think she is betraying him, but it's such a sensitive subject. And he's so ferociously involved in it and tied to it in a way that he has blinders on.”
“He can't see anything but that. I guess, he thinks of it as a betrayal, whereas it really wasn't against him. It's "A" further messing with the characters within the show and messing with their minds.”
