Keith Urban Cries at The Grammys During Macklemore’s “Same Love” Performance
We know Keith Urban has a sensitive side just from watching him on American Idol. He’s always way less harsh on the contestants than the other judges. And at last night’s Grammy Awards, we got to see Keith shed a tear during one of the most memorable parts of the night: the mass wedding of straight and gay couples during the live show.
When Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took the stage last night, they brought down the house with their single “Same Love” with Queen Latifah coming out halfway through the song to officiate 33 gay and straight marriages. And if that wasn’t epic enough for you, Madonna appeared in all her glory to contribute to the event with a little “Open Your Heart to Me.” Um, amazing much?
There’s nothing that we love more than a good TV wedding, and Keith agreed. Cameras caught him getting a little emotional during the performance, which melted our hearts… as if we needed another reason to love Keith.
This leaves us wondering two things: First, how do we get Queen Latifah to officiate at our weddings, and second, how many more times will we fall in love with Keith before this season of Idol is over? Only time will tell.
In the meantime, we know for sure that our rumored Top 31 have a lot of prep work to do if they want to top last night’s Grammy performances. New rule: Whichever contestant makes Keith cry first wins.
