Kelly shared the tear-jerking announcement during a November 14 performance at the Hard Rock Cafe for the Musicians On Call: Nashville benefit concert. She dedicated the last song in her set, hit single “Stronger,” to her dearly departed doggie.
It had been a long, hard road for Joplin, who was diagnosed with cancer a year ago, according to the RadarOnline.com report. Earlier today (November 15) Kelly wished her best friend a public goodbye with a touching tweet and sweet photo of Joplin.
“My best friend died yesterday. Joplin was special. He fought his whole life to survive & now he can rest. I loved him,” she wrote.
We hope there’s happier news on the horizon for Kelly and her new husband Brandon Blackstock. The couple, who married in October, have been trying to get pregnant, with Kelly hoping to be expecting by Christmas. “I want babies!” she said on radio show Valentine in the Morning earlier this fall.
Based on how good a mom Kelly was to Joplin, that future little one sure is lucky.
