Kenya Moore Mourns the Loss of Her Dog — Rest In Peace Velvet! (VIDEO)

Excuse us for a moment — we’re still recovering from the emotional blow that went down on tonight’s April 6 episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta. Fans of the show have grown attached over the last two seasons to Kenya Moore’s precious pooch Velvet. In fact, the puppy even had her own Twitter account! But we’ve now learned that the sweet girl has sadly passed.

In the episode, Kenya’s aunt finds her breaking down in tears in bed after experiencing a traumatizing incident. According to the Housewife, she had let her 7-year-old baby girl out into the yard and moments later heard her screaming. She went outside to find poor Velvet in the neighbor’s dog’s mouth. And though Kenya rushed Velvet to the hospital, she sadly didn’t make it in time.

“Before we pulled up i could just see her life go away,” she says in between sobs.

And if you weren’t crying already listening to her recall the tragedy, her following statements surely tipped you over the edge.

“I wasn’t there to protect her,” Kenya cries. “She always protected me. And even though she was little she did everything she was supposed to do for me.” This is just too heartbreaking.

Luckily, she has her aunt there to remind her that life will go on — no matter how difficult it may seem right now. And she suggests that they host a memorial service for Velvet, which soothes Kenya somewhat.

Her aunt also points out that maybe Velvet was taken out of their lives for a good reason: to get her ready for a new baby.

“Maybe she’s making room for someone else in your life,” she suggests. “Do you believe you can have a child? … That may be one of the reasons why God called her away — so you can give this new child the undivided attention and your unconditional love.”

This makes us feel a little better! Got to look at the positive in the midst of all the sadness. When one door closes, another opens. However, we will miss you Velvet! Our hearts go out to Kenya in this difficult time.
