Kenya Moore Wins Rookie of the Year at Real Housewives Awards — Yay or Nay?

Bravo did us a real favor this year when they combined two of our favorite things into one: the Real Housewives franchise and awards season! Yep, the first annual Real Housewives Awards — voted on strictly by the fans — took place last night, and as expected, the tea-spilling, shade-throwing gals from Atlanta took some of the biggest honors.

One surprise of the evening was the Rookie of the Year accolade, which went to “Gone With the Wind Fabulous” diva Kenya Moore. Okay, so it wasn’t completely unexpected — this is the Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member who’s twirled up enough drama for six seasons in her mere two years on the reality show. But considering how controversial Kenya has been among viewers, with some saying she’s “too fake,” we didn’t know if she’d actually clinch the title.

It appears we were wrong. You do like her, you really like her! Or you at least enjoy her pot-stirring. Kenya triumphed over such heavy-hitters as RHoNY’s Aviva Drescher (“It was about the children who are missing legs!”), RHoBH resident Wiccan Carlton Gebbia, and even fellow RHoA newbie (and recent divorcee) Porsha Williams. Way to go, Kenya!

Though we didn’t get an official acceptance speech from Miss Moore, we have an idea of what she might’ve mentioned if she had taken the podium. For one, she’s got to thank Apollo Nida for giving her SextGate, which has gone on for a solid almost-two-seasons now. Also, credit’s due to NeNe Leakes, who has chosen Kenya as a sort of adversary this season — something that will keep you relevant for seasons to come.

Congrats Kenya! We’ll be twirling all day in celebration with you!

Are you surprised Kenya won Rookie of the Year? Would you have chosen someone else? Tell us in the comments below.
