Though her Scandal character knows how to "handle" media scrutiny, Kerry Washington is copping up to being a little less unflappable.

The 37-year-old actress behind Olivia Pope revealed to E! Online that she was a little freaked to return to the limelight following her maternity leave, of sorts — having kept a low profile following the April 21 birth of her daughter with hubby Nnamdi Asomugha, Isabelle Amarachi.

"It's a little crazy," she told the site at Women in Film's Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles on June 11. "Yesterday was like my fist time being back in the game, and I was so nervous. It was like 'the first day of school' nervous. But I missed our Gladiators and all the social media and you guys and all the photographers."

She misses the photographers, too? That's sure nice of Kerry to say!

The Bronx native attended the gala — rocking a Sportmax dress and Christian Louboutin pumps — to receive the Lucy Award, awarded annually to innovators in television. Her Scandal boss, creator and exec producer Shonda Rhimes, was on hand to present the honor.

The other honorees at the event were Blue Jasmine Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, Neighbors star Rose Byrne, former Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria, and Frozen co-director Jennifer Lee.

Nervous or not, Kerry looks fab, and we're happy to have her back!
