Patrick Dempsey and Kevin Bacon’s One Degree of Separation: What Do They Have in Common?
The age-old question of Patrick Dempsey’s degree of separation to Kevin Bacon has finally been answered. Though the Grey’s Anatomy star has been in the business for decades and has had a small Bacon number of two for years — he starred in Transformers: Dark of the Moon with Rich Hutchman, who was in Crazy, Stupid, Love with Kevin — he dropped down to one tiny degree today, November 5.
So, what do they have in common now that brought them so close together? A 2014 People’s Choice Award nomination, with both actors up for Favorite Dramatic TV Actor. Both are up against Person of Interest’s Jim Caviezel, The Good Wife’s Josh Charles, and NCIS’ Mark Harmon, with Patrick leading Grey’s and Kevin on serial killer show The Following.
The most interesting part about this newfound connection is that Kevin is chasing killers on his show while Patrick is saving lives. Maybe they should team up — Dr. Derek Shepherd, meet FBI agent Ryan Hardy.
Since they were both such big ‘80s movie heartthrobs, we’re surprised they haven’t teamed up professionally yet. Maybe some friendly competition with the PCAs will inspire them. Heck, maybe all five nominees can just all work together — it’d be quite a supershow.
The People’s Choice Awards air on January 8, 2014, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. You canvote at PeoplesChoice.com, their official voting app, and on Facebook or Twitter through December 5, 2013.
