With his buddy-cop comedy Ride Along breaking box office records in movie theaters these days, Kevin Hart is setting his sights on television.
Deadline reports that ABC has ordered a sitcom pilot based on Kevin's life and stand-up comedy.
According to the site, the show will "take a candid look at the post-divorce life of a couple trying to forge a friendship for the sake of their kids, despite differences."
In case you're wondering about the backstory behind this semi-autobiographical project, Kevin was married to comedian Torrei Hart for seven years — and the onetime spouses have two children, Heaven Leigh and Hendrix. Despite litigious divorce proceedings, Kev has remarked that he and Torrei are still friends.
Community writers Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan penned the script for the pilot, and they'll serve as executive producers alongside Kevin and Kevin's manager, Dave Becky.
The 34-year-old actor, however, is not expected to star in the show — but he is expected to make recurring appearances.
ABC has added one caveat to the pickup, however — the network gets final cast approval. Hopefully that team of producers will assemble a gut-busting group of comedic actors and this project will make it to air!
