Kevin McHale (Artie) was one of the lucky few Glee stars to make the transition from Lima, Ohio, to New York City, and even though his most interesting storyline of Season 5 was about contracting a nasty STD, at least his character made it to the Big Apple.
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has said anyone and everyone who wants to return will be invited back for the show’s sixth and final season so we assume that we haven’t seen the last of Kevin/Artie just yet. Last we left the wheelchair-bound film student, he was still in school in New York City while his pal Rachel (Lea Michele) prepared to shoot her television pilot in Los Angeles. Since Season 6 will likely be following Rachel out to L.A. we probably won’t get to see too much of Artie, but he should still be involved nonetheless.
Still, with the news that Kevin’s landed himself a new gig, we have to wonder how, if it all, his potential time of Glee will be impacted. Digital Spy reports Kevin has been tapped to host a new show on British television channel E4 called Virtually Famous. The show, focused on viral internet content, is described as a “celebration globally famous memes and Twitter rants" and "the greatest YouTube posts and Vine shorts.”
Kevin confirmed the news in an excited tweet of his own: “I'm coming back to the UK! Couldn't be more excited.”
Virtually Famous is expected to air on E4 later this year, which thankfully means it likely won’t have any effect on Kevin’s Glee schedule since Season 6 won’t be kicking off until 2015.
In fact, one fan asked if this new job meant no more Glee, and Kev was quick to set the record straight. “not at all. Still Gleeing,” he replied.
