Parents Drive For Miles Unaware That Their 6-Year-Old Is Riding on Top of the Car

This kid liked the view from the top so much, he decided to risk his life over it.

The Daily Mail reports that Alaska State Troopers recently experienced an incident in which a 6-year-old boy decided to climb on the top of his parents' minivan and hold on as it was speeding down the highway.

The boy gripped the metal bars on the minivan’s roof as it sped down the highway for approximately 3 miles. Somehow, his parents say they didn’t know that the boy was on the roof, and they didn’t even notice when he finally fell off of the van, suffering cuts and bruises.

What’s more, the parents report that their son has done this before. Beth Ipsen, a spokesperson for the Alaska State Troopers, told the Anchorage Daily News that the boy said he climbed onto the vehicle Sunday as his parents traveled on the Parks Highway.

Around mile 49 of the Parks Highway, approximately 10 miles north of Wasilla, Alaska, the boy lost his grip. His parents were oblivious of their son falling off of the roof, and continued their drive. Luckily, another motorist picked the boy up, drove him to the nearest gas station, and called 911.

Police say that when another family member reported the boy missing, one of the boy’s parents showed up at the scene. Trooper Ipsen said that no one has been charged with a traffic violation or a crime.
