It Took Almost a Year For Kim Kardashian To Find Her Surrogate (UPDATE)
UPDATE (12/12/17 at 11:30 a.m. ET):
Who knew? It took Kim Kardashian longer to find a surrogate than it would've taken her to carry a baby to term herself.
The reality star, who is expecting her third child with Kanye West via surrogate in just a few weeks, reveals it was a long and arduous process finding the perfect woman for the job — it took almost a full year!
While discussing the surrogacy on Sunday's episode of KUWTK, the 37-year-old explains just how grueling the vetting process was.
"You have to like make sure that their lifestyle is healthy and they have to go through psychological testing, and it was maybe a year before we finalized our current situation," she tells cameras of the surrogate, whose identity remains a mystery for privacy purposes.
"But I think everything happens for a reason, because the surrogate that I really loved got approved and she is such a nice person, like she's so easy to talk to and she's the perfect fit for us, but we have to decide quickly, are we really going to go through with this or are we gonna wait until we feel more prepared."
As we know, Kimye did go through with it and Baby Girl West will be here before we know it. Yay!

Original story (12/11/17 at 12:31 p.m. ET):
On Sunday's Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim opens up for the first time on the show about the early stages with her surrogate, also revealing she herself lost an embryo when she was trying to get pregnant.
As fans know, Kim and Kanye hired a surrogate to carry their third child — who's a girl, BTW — since doctors advised her that getting pregnant a third time would literally be a matter of life or death.
The reality star experienced severe complications in her first two pregnancies with daughter North, 4, and son Saint, 2, including preeclampsia and placenta accreta.
But it turns out it wasn't just the pregnancies that were hard for Kim, but getting pregnant, too.
"It’s really nerve-wracking because you know it’s only a 60 percent chance it’ll take," the mom of two tells sister Khloe of waiting to find out if the surrogate's implantation worked or not.
"One [embryo] didn’t work for me. I tried it and I lost one of them.”
Khloe then divulges more on this huge revelation that Kim lost an embryo when undergoing IVF.
"Before Kimberly got pregnant with Saint, she had an embryo implanted into her and that embryo did not take," KoKo says.
"So Kim is super nervous and anxious during this waiting period. Of course she wants to know is she or is she not having another baby.”
Luckily, though, after the anonymous carrier "passed all of her tests," both physical and psychological, she does end up successfully getting pregnant.
However, the 37-year-old admits it's different having a baby this time around since she's not the one pregnant herself.
“It is frustrating to not be able to do it on your own,” she tells her sisters. "It's a weird dynamic. Like I go to all the doctors’ appointments and I try to be really present, but when you’re not carrying it yourself, it is such a fine balance of how much you’re going to be in their lives.”
Nonetheless, the KKW Beauty founder has nothing but great things to say about the woman carrying her child, whose identity will remain anonymous for privacy purposes.
“I’m seriously so grateful for that and that someone is so selfless and kind to do this, and I definitely want to keep it private,” she concludes.
“I don’t want people to find my surrogate. Like I don’t want them to harass her. She doesn’t know how to handle stuff like that. This isn’t her world.”
Baby Girl West is due in just a matter of weeks, so stay tuned to Wetpaint to find out when North and Saint's baby sister makes her big debut!
