Nothing says “I’m over you” like auctioning off the ring you gave your former fiancée. Well, maybe except having a baby by another man. Still, Kris Humphries made it clear he and ex-wife Kim Kardashian are never ever getting back together by selling the ring he proposed with all those many Keeping Up With The Kardashians ago.
As we suspected, Kim’s engagement ring went on sale at Christie’s in New York City on October 15. The opening bid: $200,000. After what we’re sure was a fevered bidding war, the ring finally sold to an online buyer for $620,000, according to an Us Weekly report. Add in the famous auction house’s standard markup and we’re looking at a final price tag of $749,000, a portion of which will be donated to an as-yet-undetermined charity.
As high as the final amount may seem, however, $749,000 is a big drop in value on the bauble. Kim (yes, Kim) reportedly bought herself the 16.21-carat diamond with two 1.8-carat side diamonds for a startling $2 million back in 2011.
Although it’s unlikely she’ll get any money returned on the ring she “silently gave back” to Kris, a source tells Us the starlet is just happy the bling has finally been sold, saying: “Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it.”
The new owner of the ring has yet to be identified. Fingers crossed it’s Kanye West.
