Kanye West had a lot to say during his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Along with putting his beef with the show’s host to bed and talking about the merits of leather jogging pants, Kanye commented on how ridiculous it is that someone as noteworthy as his lady, Kim Kardashian, would be denied a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, a rep for the organization behind that star-studded stretch of sidewalk has some news for Kanye: Kim’s actually not that popular.
Ana Martinez, a spokeswoman for the Walk and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, issued a response regarding Kanye’s protests that being a reality star shouldn’t preclude Kim from snagging a spot on the walk. "We don't have reality stars on the Walk of Fame," she tells Yahoo's omg!. "We don't have a category for it. We're happy to consider reality stars once they get nominated for, or win, an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar."
While Ana’s statement began politely enough, it’s all shade from then on out. "We'll consider them when they're legitimate actors or singers," she added. Excuse me? Have you not seen Kim in Tyler Perry’s Temptation and Drop Dead Diva? Have you not listened to her hit single “Jam (Turn It Up)”? To the left, Ana.
To add insult to already egregious injury, Ana also noted that even if she was eligible, she wouldn’t get a star. Why? "I hate to say it, but a lot of people just don't like her," Ana claims. "No one has ever nominated her.”
We beg to differ. There’s a Change.org petition for Kim’s place on the Walk... with 10 signatures as of the publication of this article. Your move, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce!
