After taking the summer to adjust to her new role as mom to baby North West, Kim Kardashian is back and ready for action. The newly engaged 33-year-old spoke with People magazine for the November 4 issue about her battle to lose the baby weight.
“Pregnancy for me was a lot tougher than people saw on my show or from magazines,” she says. Kim already looked to have a pretty hard go of it, judging from photo after photo of her painful looking swollen ankles, her emergency trip to the doctor as seen on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and the premature arrival of Nori on June 15.
Not making the journey any easier were Kim’s haters. “Every day I would hear people criticize me, and it would affect me,” she tells People. “Little by little, it would chip away at my soul. I wanted to tune out the media and my public life and ignore it all.”
But all that’s behind her now with Kim saying “to get back to feeling like myself just makes me feel good again. It’s all about feeling your best.”
The famous sex symbol gained 50 pounds during her pregnancy and has already lost the majority of the weight. She’s got just seven pounds left to go before meeting her goal.
“Losing this weight has not been easy, but I did it and that’s so rewarding,” she says. “I was dedicated and motivated, and for me, that paid off.”
To get back into shape, Kim combined workouts at Hollywood hotspot Barry’s Bootcamp with Pilates Plus as well as lower intensity activities like hiking and walking on the treadmill. She’s also maintaining a 2,000 calorie a day diet based on the well-known Atkins program.
Now that Kim’s got another big event ahead of her — her wedding to Kanye West — she’s likely even more motivated to lose those few remaining pounds. Either way, we think she looks totally stunning and, based on last week’s steamy Twitter exchange, her fiancé completely agrees.
