Uh-oh! Sounds like Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kanye West may have hit a major snag. As per RadarOnline.com, French law requires a 40-day residency before anyone is allowed to get married there… even when their wedding promises to be as epic as Kanye and Kim’s.

“All marriages must be performed by a French civil authority before any religious ceremony takes place,” the law says, according to the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. “The mayor can authorize the deputy mayor or a city councilor to perform the ceremony in the town in which one of the parties to be married has resided for at least 40 days preceding the marriage. These requirements cannot be waived.”

So how will this affect our blushing bride and groom? “Kim and Kanye were unaware until recently that France has required a residency requirement prior to the marriage,” a source close to the Kardashians says. “Kanye has an apartment in Paris, but he doesn’t live there full time.”

We’re inclined to believe a backup plan has been put into place, though. The wedding isn’t until May 24, which means Kanye and Kim have exactly a week to set foot on French soil if they still want the wedding to go off without a hitch. It’s also probably not a coincidence that Kanye’s pushed back his Australian tour, which was supposed to kick off before the wedding. If we had to guess, we’d bet Kanye’s going to hang in France for the time being while Kim deals with stuff on the homefront.

Either way, this wedding better happen. We are way too excited to see it go up in flames this late in the game!
