On Tuesday, May 28, Kim changed the name on her social media accounts to reflect her recent nuptials with Kanye, adding “West” to the end of her famous moniker.
While Kim kept her family name during her previous marriages to producer Damon Thomas and NBA star Kris Humphries, she made her intention to become Mrs. West clear shortly after the two got engaged in October.
“I will,” Kim announced of her plans to take Kanye’s name. “Kim Kardashian West. Not hyphenated — [I’ll] make it the middle.”
Although this may be the first time Kim has tacked on a husband’s last name, it seems the reality queen is following in a time-honored family tradition.
Kim’s mom, Kris Jenner, took the last names of both her husbands, Robert Kardashian and Bruce Jenner, while sister Khloe Kardashian added “Odom” to her last name after her month-long courtship with Lamar Odom, only to revert to her given name after the couple’s marriage went south.
What do you think of Kim’s choice to take Kanye’s last name?
