With Kim Kardashian’s love of fur, leather, and Atkins-friendly meat-based dishes, we never expected her to win much recognition as a friend to the animals. Now it looks like even her vacation activities are coming under scrutiny by animal rights activists.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star recently posted an Instagram video of herself riding on the back of a dolphin, which has since drawn outrage from animal rights organization PETA. The organization's SVP Lisa Lange tells RadarOnline.com of Kim’s swim: “Kim is free to leave the pool, but for the dolphins, it’s a lifetime sentence.”
The organization’s website goes on to explain the issues that can occur when humans are introduced into a dolphin’s environment. “Such programs invade the animals’ already diminished worlds … Animals in ‘petting pools’ can become injured and anxious as a result of constant poking and prodding, and exposure to bacteria that they are not immune to can make them ill.”
While Kim may have only posted footage of her own time in the dolphin tank, she wasn’t the only family member getting in on the fun. She revealed earlier this week that 1-year-old North also took a dip with the dolphins and even gave a sea lion a smooch!
Do you think PETA is right about Kim’s decision to swim with the dolphins? Do you think she should issue an apology for her behavior?
