Mon dieu! We were clutching our baguettes and berets yesterday (April 8) after hearing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s French extravaganza of a wedding might be canceled because of a little thing known as the law.
For those of you who missed the news, turns out the land of the Eiffel Tower stipulates that to be married on French soil, at least one of the folks getting wed has to have “resided for at least 40 days [in France] preceding the marriage.”
With Kimye’s wedding date just around the corner — that’s May 24, in case your save the date got lost in the mail — that leaves very little wiggle room for the couple to pack their bags, bundle up baby daughter North West, and head to Kanye’s Parisian apartment.
While the couple haven’t confirmed that is how they’ll address the requirement, we have heard they were aware of the rule all along and have plans in place so that when they do say “I do” it’ll be the real deal. Granted, they might make it legal here in the States and then just host a French fête to recognize their union. That seems like the simplest fix but, then again, this is Kimye we’re talking about. Simple isn’t in their shared vocabulary.
What plan do you think Kim and Kanye have worked out so they can wed in France?
