We’ve been gearing up big time for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding in late May, but it seems our timeline may be off by as much as a month! The super sleuths at TMZ report the couple could be making it official this week in a private civil ceremony.
According to insiders, Kim and Kanye obtained a “confidential” marriage license, meaning it’s off the books for now to keep things hush hush. The marriage license will also allow them to perform the civil ceremony outside of a courthouse and in the privacy of their own home. Apparently when you have as much money and clout as Yeezy and Kim, court officials will make house calls.
But why get married now, in California, when the couple is clearly planning a lavish Paris wedding slated for late May? Really, it’s all about ensuring that their nuptials are legally recognized. According to French law, they’d have to physically be in the country for 40 days in order to legally wed there. They’ll still have their over-the-top ceremony and reception with the E! film crew and their who’s who guest list a few weeks from now, as scheduled.
Still, it’s hard to believe after all the pomp and circumstance of the proposal that Kim and Kanye would have their official marriage ceremony in such a subdued and intimate fashion, don’t you think?
