At first glance, Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones don’t have much in common, but do a little digging and we start to wonder if Julian Fellowes and George R.R. Martin aren’t secret penpals. Think about it: Both shows have huge casts with complicated names and neither has any problem killing off fan favorites. They even have dragons! (Sorry I’m not sorry, Dowager Countess.)

But don’t float this theory by Kit Harington. The Game of Thrones star, who plays leading man in black Jon Snow, has no time for Downton. In fact, he’s pretty brutal in his critique of the period drama!

In his latest interview with Rolling Stone, the 27-year-old English actor lays it all out for the magazine.

“I really disagree with Downton Abbey on lots of f—ing levels,” Kit says. “It celebrates the class system, and its kind of overall message seems to be, ‘Wasn’t it good when everybody knew their place within society?’ Why should we hark back to those times? It was bulls—t. We got out of that and thank the f—k we did.”

Anybody else need to ring for the maid to get some ice and cool those burns? Kit, who comes from English aristocratic stock, admits he hasn’t seen many Downton episodes (zero, perhaps?), and despite all the pomp, we can’t help but think if circumstances were different the young actor would be so keen to snub the Abbey. Remember, all contracts must end.

And one final note: Could Kit’s bad feelings maybe have something to do with a little lady (and ex-girlfriend) named Rose Leslie who, before her time on Thrones, started out on Downton? Just sayin'...
