Leave it to Kim Kardashian to take staying on top of the latest trends to a whole new — also, mildly disgusting — level.
Vampires are all the rage these days. From smash hit movie franchises, popular teen books, and even the world of luxury skincare.
During the March 10 episode of Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, Kim Kardashian managed to gross out TV viewers across America when she got a vampire facial.
The bloody procedure, which is also called platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, requires patients to have their own blood injected into their face. Blood is drawn from the arm, spun in a centrifuge to separate out the platelets, and then rubbed onto the patient’s face.
Based on Kim’s reaction to the treatment, it appears to be painful. Tiny needles prick the skin, allowing the platelets to enter into the skin. The process is supposed to smooth skin and get rid of wrinkles, but is a blood-covered face really worth it?
On March 10, Kim tweeted a photo of herself: face covered in dry, caked blood. She then provided another photo of the procedure, with her close pal Jonathan pointing enthusiastically at the docs handiwork.
“Look what @jonathancheban did to me!!! #KKTM” she wrote.
Oh, Kim. Yeah, it was Jonathan’s idea... but you totally could have said no. We understand the desire to have beautiful, wrinkle-free skin. But is having to call upon the undead really worth it?
Better steer clear of garlic for a few days, just in case.
