Why Weren't Kanye West and Kim Kardashian at the MTV Video Music Awards?

Kanye West was surprisingly a no show at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. Was it because he didn’t have Kim Kardashian to hang on his arm?

While the rapper has made appearances at the VMAs almost every year, he failed to appear last night, leading some to wonder if he skipped out because his girlfriend wasn’t in attendance either.

Turns out both members of the power couple were just busy working on other endeavours!

“No, no, he’s working,” Kim said at the launch of her new fragrance, True Reflection, while at Fashion’s Night Out in New York City. “He’s recording an album. I’m sure he’d love to be there, but he’s out of town.”

Kim, who couldn’t go to the show because of a prior commitment with her fragrance launch, says the VMA commercial she shot with Kanye and Kevin Hart wasn’t necessarily an RSVP to the show.

“Well, we shot the commercial for it,” Kim said. “Back then, I knew this was booked months in advance. So I always knew I wasn’t going to be able to attend.”
