Kris Jenner Reveals: My Biggest Regret Was Divorcing Robert Kardashian
In the wake of her separation from husband Bruce Jenner, Kris Jenner is opening up about some pretty major life regrets.
Her biggest one? Getting divorced from her first husband, Robert Kardashian, Sr.
In a recent interview with New You magazine, Kris says that she never would have split from Robert if she had the chance to do it all again.
“The one regret, if I had to do it over, would be divorcing Robert Kardashian,” Kris told the magazine. “But then there wouldn’t have been Kendall and Kylie, so that’s the way I look at it.”
Kris met Robert in 1978 and the two were married for 12 years until Kris filed for divorce in 1990, citing marital difficulties. One source of tension for the couple was O.J. Simpson’s 1996 murder trial, in which Robert represented and defended the football player. Kris counted O.J.’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson as her best friend and struggled with Robert defending him in court, reportedly harboring anger toward her ex-husband until his death in 2003.
“Everything happens for a reason, and we learn from our mistakes,” Kris told the magazine. “I thought I was so smart when I was young. I was fearless.”
Kris might never have a chance to make amends with her late ex-husband, but she does have a constant reminder of the father of her children.
“My son is identical to his father, Robert — they look a like, act alike and have the same mannerisms,” she said of her only son, Robert Kardashian Jr. “It’s an amazing reminder of what an amazing dad Robert was. He was a great husband and a good person.”
