Robert Pattinson may be over his infamous 2013 split with Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, but we sure aren’t. Edward and Bella for-evah! But in a recent interview with Esquire, R.Patz makes it pretty clear he’s got other things on his mind these days.
“S—t happens, you know?” says the 28-year-old. “It’s just young people… it’s normal! And honestly, who gives a s—t?”
Um, twihards everywhere care a whole lot, although Rob’s Twilight fans may not recognize the actor these days. He’s racking up quite the resume of indie films with parts that bear little resemblance to angsty 100-year-old teen Edward Cullen. His latest projects include the dystopian western The Rover, David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, Queen of the Desert by Werner Herzog, and Anton Corbijn’s Life. Heady stuff!
Rob would rather talk about his new projects, but it’s hard to chat about the hunk’s career without bringing up K.Stew and the cheating scandal — you know, the one in which she stepped out on Rob with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.
“The hardest part was talking about it afterwards. Because when you talk about other people, it affects them in ways you can’t predict,” he says. “It’s like that scene in Doubt [2008, Philip Seymour Hoffman is a priest accused of inappropriate behaviour], where he’s talking about how to take back gossip? They throw all those feathers from a pillow into the sky and you’ve got to go and collect all the feathers.”
Rob may have understandably closed the book on the Twilight chapter of his life, but the actor still seems to fascinate the public, which leaves him a bit befuddled. "I don't understand why. I think it goes through periods where you're assigned 'this is the guy to follow.' But whenever I see a bunch of paparazzi hanging out, I always think, 'Oh God, what have they found out!' Oh, that love child! I totally forgot!" We didn’t forget, Rob. Oh, we didn’t.
What do you think about Rob’s remarks about his relationship with Kristen? Do you agree we should move on, or does it still matter? Tell us in the comments.
