The second Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult were revealed to be making a movie together, the rumors started. That's just KStew's life nowadays, even when she's just hanging out with her co-stars.
Kristen and Nicholas are in Japan working on their film Equals, and fans snapped pics of them getting sushi for breakfast. (Yes, people do it!) As the fan who shared the pic shown wrote on July 31, "Had the best sushi breky this morning at Daiwa in Tsukiji Fish Market w/ famous peeps. #kristenstewart #nicholashoult."
Shortly after that, the news came out that Nicholas and Jennifer Lawrence had broken up (again), which only fed into the idea that maybe Kristen and Nicholas would become an item. But that’s not quite the case (at this point, anyway).
Variety caught up with the Equals cast and crew in Tokyo, to talk about the sci-fi indie drama set in the near future, when human emotions have been eliminated. Nicholas' character, Silas, ultimately ends up close to Kristen's Nia, and their emotions turn to love.
“I’m definitely not afraid of ‘feels.’ My life revolves around it actually,” Kristen told Variety. “Finding the balance between the head and the heart is important but I’ve always been very driven by the gut. Every thought or articulated emotion starts in shapes and colors and putting your finger on that is cool, but it’s not necessary.”
Asked about her feelings for her co-star, Kristen joked, “I can’t stand him.” Nicholas said, more seriously, "It's always a weird position to be put in any film where the director chooses two people and is saying 'Hey, potentially in this world I'm creating you two could fall in love.’ Sometimes [this kind of situation] feels forced and tricky and awkward, but the kind of environment [director Drake Doremus] created was straight forward and easy. Kirsten is a great actress and that just makes it very relaxed and my job very easy.”
Equals will shoot in Japan from August 4 to 28, then move to Singapore for another three weeks.
