Given the nature of the show, many actors on HBO’s Game of Thronesdon’t stay employed for very long. But of the few lucky actors who’ve been there since the beginning, Kristian Nairn says he has the best gig of all playing Hodor.
“It’s an actor’s dream to only have one line and people like him, so I'm really lucky,” Kristian says of Hodor during a fan Q & A at Melbourne, Australia’s Oz Comic Con. Despite the fact that Kristian only ever says one word as Hodor, that word being of course, Hodor, he never tires of it. “This is what I always tell people and it's 100% true: 10 times more people ask me if I'm sick of being asked to say Hodor than actually ask me to say Hodor,” Kristian reveals. “It’s really weird, like a paradox. ‘Are you sick of being asked to say Hodor?’ ‘No, but I’m sick of that.’ It’s easier just to say Hodor. I love saying Hodor!”
Who doesn’t love saying Hodor? Hodor!
Even though he loves only having to memorize one line, Kristian would like Hodor to say a little more, but only if it’s the last thing he ever does. “I would like Hodor to die in the middle of a big speech,” Kristian says. “The first time ever he stands up to say something different he gets eaten by a wolf. That would be ironic.”
