Kristin Cavallari on Son Camden Saying ‘Mom’: It ‘Just Melts My Heart’! — Exclusive
It takes a lot to pry new mom Kristin Cavallari from her 1-year-old son, Camden, even for just a night. But the 26-year-old former MTV reality star — currently living with her son and husband, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, in the Windy City — took a short break from her family on Tuesday to attend New York Fashion Week’s presentation of Style 360’s Junk Food Vintage NFL line, which she curated.
Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Kristin at the presentation’s after-party, held at Haven Rooftop at the Sanctuary Hotel. While guests nibbled on pretzels and Sabra hummus washed down with Voli Light vodka cocktails, we chatted with the former Hills starlet about Camden’s latest milestone, striking the delicate balance between work and family life, and, of course, fashion.
Since her short time on The Hills came to a close and she danced her way off Dancing With the Stars after only three weeks, Kristin says she has just been enjoying her time at home with baby, working on her exclusive shoe line for Chinese Laundry and Kitson jewelry line when she finds the time.
“I’m actually very blessed in that I have the perfect job where I’m able to make my own hours,” Kristin says. “So I can work… while Camden is napping or after he goes to bed. When I have to pop into L.A. or New York, sometimes I’ll bring him, but if it’s just a quick trip, I’ll fly in, do what I need to do, then fly home.”
The new mother definitely wants to be around for her son and never wants to miss out on his biggest milestones. She says he has been walking for a few months now, but he’s just starting to get the hang of his speech, no doubt making the cutest spitting and sputtering attempts. “He started saying ‘mom’ a couple of weeks ago,” Kristin reveals, “which just melts my heart. It’s the best sound in the world.”
We couldn’t agree more. We hope she’s videotaping these moments, because they fly by so fast!
Since we were in New York during the city’s biggest fashion event of the year, we couldn’t avoid the elephant in the room and just had to ask Kristin about her favorite fall fashion picks: “Over the knee boots for sure,” she says, “they’re so hot right now. And I love a good statement coat.”
