Lady Gaga may want a “Bad Romance,” but the pop superstar certainly isn’t looking for any bad blood. The “singer made her highly-anticipated appearance on Watch What Happens Live on September 11 and dished on a variety of topics — including her rumored feud with Christina Aguilera.
Fans and critics alike bashed Xtina soon after the release of her album Bionic (and specifically the song “Not Myself Tonight”). saying she was trying to copy Gaga’s style and sound.
"All I know was that people were talking about Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga in the same sentence ... and [back then] I was nobody," Lady Gaga said. "I just think it's very unfair of anyone to pit another woman against another woman especially in the space of music when we are all just trying to be taken seriously at all … as females because we're not taken seriously as real musicians.”
The singer went on to gush about the Voice coach, who she considers a personal inspiration.
“Christina is an incredible vocalist and an incredible artist,” she continued. “From me to her, I'm so sorry for anything that anyone ever said to her because of my existence. I hope that she never felt anyway about it because when I was 15, I was singing ‘I Turn to You’ at the top of my lungs trying to hit all her notes. So she was an inspiration to me to have a wider vocal range, and I just think it's all total nonsense the way that they do that."
We love that Lady Gaga is still so humble even after so much success! And all Team Xtina fans know that the “Beautiful” singer doesn’t need to copy anyone to make hits.
