Lady Gaga Reveals ARTPOP Cover — Nude Sculpture Is a “Piece of My Heart”
Brace yourselves, Little Monsters. Our ever-fabulous matriarch, Mother Monster (aka Lady Gaga) has revealed the album artwork for her new record, ARTPOP, set for release on November 11. And, of course, this cover is a true work of art — literally.
The cover, which was revealed on Clear Channel billboards Monday morning, features a nude sculpture of Gaga, created by artist Jeff Koons. She’s cupping her breasts and is wearing a sleek blonde wig with some serious bang action while sitting spread-eagle in front of a blue sphere — something only Gaga herself could pull off.
Early Monday morning, Lady Gaga took to Twitter to share her nerves before the release. “Please welcome Jeff Koons into our family + shower him with love for the the talents he has shared with us. A pure and genuine collaborator,” she tweeted before saying, “I'm nervous & excited to share something that's such a piece of my heart. Something I cherish deeply. A real depiction of my mind through his.”
And, according to Gaga’s Twitter page, the Koons sculpture will be exhibited at the ARTPOP release party on November 10. How can we score an invite to that party, Gaga?
While “Applause” has gone viral, we’re excited to hear what other treasures Mother Monster has waiting for us on ARTPOP. All we know is that when November 11 rolls around, we’ll be jamming out to some new music for a good, long while.
