Lady Sybil Returns to British Television! What’s Her New Role?

Have any of us ever truly recovered from the sudden death of Lady Sybil back in Season 3 of Downton Abbey? While Matthew Crawley’s (Dan Stevens) passing only a few episodes later was nearly as horrifying, Sybil’s came on suddenly and just hours after she became a mom. It still makes us well up just thinking about it.

Dry your eyes though, fellow Downton fans, because the actress who made Sybil so beloved has returned to the world of the British miniseries! Jessica Brown Findlay plays leading lady Mary Yellan in Jamaica Inn, currently playing on BBC1.

Based on the 1936 gothic novel by Daphne du Maurier and originally made into a movie by Alfred Hitchcock, Jamaica Inn has all the intrigue of a Sherlock Holmes murder mystery. We get a taste of the trouble afoot in the new trailer from BBC.

Back in period clothing, a wind-swept Jessica rides in a carriage, takes in the scenery, and makes out with a sexy bloke who is not Tom Branson. Jess isn’t looking nearly as freshly pressed as she was as Lady Sybil, but that’s what happens when you leave the Abbey.

Are you watching Jamaica Inn or too busy marathoning the latest season of Downton?
