Lamar Odom Returning to the Lakers? No Chance, According to Ex Coach
While Lamar Odom will play basketball for “anyone who’s a fan,” it doesn’t look like he’ll be doing it for the Los Angeles Lakers. Phil Jackson may have retired as coach in 2011, but he has pretty good insights into the team, since his fiancee’s family owns it. And according to Phil, Lamar’s chances of a comeback are, sadly, pretty darn slim.
Asked about Lamar’s future with the Lakers, the b-ball legend tells TMZ, “I think that bridge might have been burned.”
In an earlier interview about his past as Lamar’s coach, Phil cited his connection to the Kardashian family as a “distraction” during the off-season. Apparently the reality series got in the way of Lamar’s conditioning.
While Phil didn’t say anything about Lamar’s rumored drug problem or his separation from Khloe, he did cite “too many personal things” going on in his life. The ex-coach also said that while many people associated with the team have tried to reach out to Lamar, it’s seemed like he’s thrown his phone away. Yeesh.
We can see how taking Lamar back would seem pretty risky for the team’s leadership, but still it’s a bummer. We know how much Lamar loved playing for the Lakers.
