Lamar Odom Talks Drug Overdose: ‘I Was Basically Just Committing Suicide’

Lamar Odom isn't set to make his return to TV until later this week with his appearance on The Doctors, but some preview clips from the show are already promising some major bombshells from Khloe Kardashian's ex-husband.

The syndicated daytime series was given exclusive access to the former L.A. Laker's journey as he went through rehab following the 2015 drug overdose that nearly killed him.

In one clip, the 37-year-old admits he had no idea why he was in the hospital when he first woke up from his coma.

"I didn't know until Khloe had told me that I was in a coma," he said. "I couldn't even speak at the time, I couldn't talk. So I was scared."

In a separate clip, Lamar admits what many had already assumed — that he was essentially trying to take his own life by living the way he was.

"Did I feel ashamed about some of the choices I made? They were despicable," he says. "I was basically just committing suicide."

But has the former athlete turned over a new leaf?

Lamar, who says he's sober now, was reportedly much more engaged in his most recent rehab stint than in his prior attempts to get clean, and he now seems focused on staying healthy.

"I am very proud of the work Lamar has done and wish nothing but the best for him and his family. He knows he has a lot of work left to do, the road ahead will not be easy, but he has the tools and the strength to succeed," says the show's host, Dr. Travis Stork.

However, Lamar's healthy and sober new lifestyle was not the biggest surprise to come out of his interviews.

"When you look at your life ahead of you, what are you looking forward to?" Travis asks Lamar.

"Honestly? I want my wife back," the former Khloe & Lamar star replies, drawing huge cheers from the studio audience. "But other than that, I just want to live a healthy, happy life."

We'll find out what other shocking truths are revealed when Lamar makes his appearance on The Doctors on Tuesday, January 17 — will you be watching?
