Lamar Odom's personal problems — from his alleged skirt-chasing to his drug use — aren’t earning him any Brownie points on the homefront, but if there’s one place that’s always forgiving of bad behavior, it’s the world of professional sports.
Despite previous reports that Lamar’s drug habit has made him virtually unemployable in the past, with the Dallas Mavericks terminating his contract early and no team picking him up for the current season, RadarOnline claims that the L.A. Lakers are willing to offer him a spot on their roster if he checks himself into rehab immediately.
In the fantasy world of rainbows, unicorns, and handshake sports deals in which this story exists, if Lamar could just manage to not chow down on a bunch of drugs, the Lakers would be totally willing to throw millions of dollars at him.
A source for the site claims, “The Lakers are a family and even though Lamar isn’t currently on their roster, that doesn’t matter, he’s a two-time championship Laker… Lamar needs to go to rehab and he’s been told by the team that if he goes and completes treatment, there’ll be a spot for him.”
Despite this magical deal that the Lakers have offered since they switched from a basketball team to a charitable organization, Lamar is still unsure if he wants to say yes.
“Lamar is really resisting rehab, even with the Lakers’ offer on the table,” says the insider. “He doesn’t want to miss training camp. Lamar thinks he can kick this on his own. It’s very hard for him to admit that he needs help.”
