Lamar Odom may not have his life back in working order quite yet, but he’s got one less burden to bear now that the threat of jail time has been taken off the table in his DUI case.

The former NBA star, who was pulled over and subsequently arrested when cops noticed him driving at a snail’s pace in the early morning hours of August 30, has worked out a plea agreement in relation to the charges that will keep him out of the clink, although he’s not getting off totally scott-free.

Lamar, whose license was immediately suspended for one year after he refused to take sobriety tests at the scene of the stop, pleaded no contest to the charges in exchange for three years of probation, $1814 in fees and fines, and an alcohol education class, which he’ll have to finish before June 9.

While the plea deal is definitely a step in the right direction for the former Clippers forward, it seems as though some of the steps Lamar has taken to right his recent wrongs are being seen as too little, too late.

Although Lamar was reportedly taking meetings with his former teams just weeks ago, his recent, allegedly sauced, video, in which he rap about cheating on wife Khloe Kardashian, may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for both his career and his marriage. On the upside? At least he has a lot of time on his hands to tighten up those rhymes.
