Although he’s been working hard to get his personal life and career back on track, it looks like Lamar Odom’s hoop dreams may be on hold for the time being.

The basketball star, who has reportedly been hoping to resign a contract with an NBA team since a disappointing season in 2013, may have already hit a standstill in the process of returning to the court.

“He isn’t going to be playing for the Clippers this year and the Lakers will not sign him because they are having a horrible season and want to save money for next year,” says a source for HollywoodLife. “Most NBA GMs want to give him this year off and take a look at him next year after a year away.”

While Lamar has reportedly had meetings with both of his former California teams to discuss a contract renewal, it seems that his troubled personal life might be overshadowing his professional achievements, making it too risky for coaches to bank on his future success.

Retired Lakers coach Phil Jackson had a less-than-positive outlook about the possibility of Lamar’s return to his old team, admitting, “I think that bridge might have been burned.”

Do you think the NBA should give Lamar another chance?
