Lamar Odom is finally getting his basketball career back on track, and it seems the inspiration for his reinvigorated love for the game has come from an unlikely source: former father-in-law Bruce Jenner.

Lamar, who recently signed a short term contract with Spanish basketball team Laboral Kutxa, may have been getting his act together on his own for a few months, but he says that the encouragement from Bruce gave him much-needed motivation to get back in the game.

“Bruce is one of the reasons why I am going to do this,” Lamar revealed to Access Hollywood adding that his former father-in-law “means a lot” to him.

This isn’t the first time Bruce has been a source of support for the troubled basketball star — back in November, sources reported that Bruce took Lamar in after he was kicked out of his Calabasas home by soon-to-be ex-wife Khloe Kardashian.

While Lamar and Khloe’s relationship will soon be officially over once their divorce is finalized, he made it clear that he harbors no hard feelings for the Kardashian clan.

Adding to the list of his inspirations for returning to the court, Lamar said, “Of course my family. They stood by me.”

Are you surprised that Bruce and Lamar have remained so close?
