TNT Renews Grey’s Anatomy Alum Eric Dane’s New Show, The Last Ship, For Season 2

If you were hoping that Grey's Anatomy would somehow resurrect Mark "McSteamy" Sloan and bring actor Eric Dane back into the fold, we hate to break it to you, but your dreams just got even more unrealistic.

TNT just renewed Eric's new show, The Last Ship, for an even bigger second season, ordering 13 episodes, an increase from Season 1's 10 installments.

In the action-packed series, the 41-year-old stud plays the captain of a U.S. Navy ship that becomes humanity's best hope for survival after a vicious plague decimates the world's population. His co-stars include Adam Baldwin, Rhona Mitra, and Travis Van Winkle.

"The Last Ship has become this summer's top drama among key adult demos with its epic scale and visceral storytelling," raved TNT's programming prez, Michael Wright, in a press release.

TNT notes that the Michael Bay-produced show is basic cable's most-viewed new series for the year so far — and the cable's top scripted series of the summer — with an average of 7.2 million viewers watching each episode within a week of its airing.

Considering Mark Sloan is dead — sorry again — we're happy Eric has found gainful employment elsewhere… and great success, to boot!
