Lauren Alaina’s Album Is Best Selling Female Country Debut Since 2006

Way to go, Lauren Alaina! Her record label, Mercury Nashville, just released an update on how the American Idol star’s debut album is doing. Apparently, not too shabby! Wildflower is the best selling debut album for any female country singer since 2006.

The label also says she’s coming in at Number 2 on the Billboard Top Country chart this week and Number 5 on the Top 100 list, adding: “Lauren is the youngest female artist to debut this high on the Billboard charts since LeAnn Rimes’ debut 15 years ago.”

Record execs are raving over Lauren’s accomplishments. “This achievement marks the beginning of much more to come from this talented young artist,” says Steve Bermen, Vice Chairman of Interscope, Geffen A&M Records.

This has been a crazy past couple of weeks for Lauren Alaina and her buddy, Scotty McCreery, whose debut album Clear As Day was Number 1 on Billboard in its first week. They are the first American Idol winner and runner-up since 2008 to both land spots on the Top 5 chart.
