Ben Higgins Recalls the Moment He Learned of Lauren Bushnell’s New Boyfriend
And the normally-polished hunk is being surprisingly honest!
When news of Lauren’s relationship hit the press in late July, Ben was busy juggling his many jobs: the Almost Famous podcast with Ashley Iaconetti, his upcoming nonprofit company Generous Coffee, and his regular 9-to-5 gig in tech sales.
Not only that, but he was also just about to head to Honduras for two weeks with his go-to charity, Humanity and Hope.

Needless to say, his ex’s big news took him aback.
“I decided to go for a run,” he tells Us Weekly of the overwhelming moment.
“I was praying the whole time like, ‘God, please release some anxiety.’”
Luckily, he was able to get some perspective on the situation.
“I stopped and thought, if I’m the man I claim I want to be, then I need to celebrate Lauren,” he admits.
“So if she’s happy, I will celebrate that the best I can.”
Of course, that’s not always going to be easy — especially when the former flight attendant is starting to open up more about her relationship on social media.
“You can’t always wait for the perfect time,” she posted recently, before sharing a shot of her new L.A. love.
“Sometimes, you have to dare to do it because life is too short to wonder what could have been.”
The couple — who started as platonic friends in 2015 — even took their first trip together recently to the lovely island of Maui.
While the Season 20 winner is moving on quickly, the Bachelor himself isn’t quite ready to plunge back into the dating pool just yet — on The Bachelor or otherwise.
The 28-year-old reveals, “I’ve been thinking about it a lot. I’m not not ready to date. But it still feels weird. How do I take that first step? That’s where I’m at.”
Eventually, Ben will take that leap, and when he does, it’ll be for something more serious — not just to casually date.
“I do long for a commitment and to love somebody and for somebody to do the same for me,” he explains.
“I’m ready to find that. If the right moment presented itself, I would want to take a first step.”
But what would this girl be like? Will he be looking for something different this time around?
The former reality star spills, “I want someone to open my eyes wider, who loves a little harder and pushes me to do the same.
“I’m not saying Lauren didn’t offer those things. My dad once said, ‘Ben, when you know, you know.’ I was like, ‘That doesn’t help.’ But that’s all I got right now.”
He finishes, “So I’m looking for someone that, when I meet them, I know.”
Though Lauren found love with someone from her past, he won’t be taking any trips down memory lane — and that includes his runner-up JoJo Fletcher.
“I think JoJo is great. I think JoJo is a ton of fun, she’s a beautiful person, inside and out,” he started of the happily-engaged Bachelorette on his podcast this week.
He added, “I’ve met [her fiancé Jordan Rodgers], I think Jordan’s incredible. They seem very happy.
“I don’t miss JoJo. The feeling of longing for JoJo isn’t something I’m familiar with, it never has been.
That being said, he would be “excited” to see his fellow franchise stars again.
“I would love to see both of them, catch up on life, and celebrate life as friends,” he concluded.
How mature, right?
