We’ve already told you about The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan’s (Maggie Greene) appearance on Arsenio Hall and how she told a story about briefly pretending to be Russian to avoid a group of crazed teen fans, but there was more to her talk show turn than a cute story.
During another point in their chat, Arsenio brought up Lauren’s spirituality. The British actress was born into a Christian family and later converted to Judaism, but her spirituality never wavered. Lauren went on to explain that she’s inherited some of her spiritual ways from her mom, who has a sweet little habit of giving her TV star daughter twigs from the woods behind their house whenever she comes home to visit so she can take them with her as she travels.
“It’s cute,” Lauren said of her mom’s quirky ritual. “And the magic of these twigs is that you take whatever journey you’re going to take and then you pass them onto somebody.”
In the spirit (see what we did there?) of this cute tradition, Lauren chose to give Arsenio to tiny twigs of his own. “I actually brought you two because one is a boy and one is girl,” she reasoned, noting that you can put the twigs together like Barbies.
“So one twig always has company,” Arsenio explained.
When Arsenio asked Lauren if her mom created this idea, Lauren explains that her mother just creates “a lot of twig art,” then laughed and realized that she’d painted a very strange picture of her mom.
Arsenio didn’t seem to mind, though, and took a small quartz angel out of his pocket to show Lauren.
We’ll admit that we were hoping for some TWD-related chatter, but this spirituality sesh was actually really sweet. Watch it below and tell us what you think!
The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
