Simon Cowell Isn’t “Proud” of Lauren Silverman Affair

Simon Cowell may be professionally known as Mr. Nasty but when it comes to his personal life, the white-teed reality TV star didn't mean for things to get messy. We, of course, are thinking of Simon’s affair with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, an affair that ended in her divorce from Simon’s close friend and the birth of his and Lauren’s baby boy, Eric.

While the family practically glows in the candid snapshots they’ve shared since Eric’s birth on Valentine’s Day, it wasn’t always so easy, Simon tells The Mirror.

“Did a doctor say I was depressed? Yeah. I mean I knew it myself,” the 54-year-old says of his life before baby when his evenings were consumed with trying to make X Factor a hit in the U.S. (a task, unfortunately, that was never quite accomplished). “You are always looking for the next high from the show and then actually if you haven’t got anyone to share it with per se, or if you haven’t got a family around you, you can go a bit nuts.”

Life soon took an even crazier turn with the announcement that Simon’s secret love, married woman Lauren, was pregnant with his child but Simon says “in a weird way I probably needed that. I really did.”

While Simon says he “regrets” how the relationship hurt his close friend Andrew Silverman and that the affair is not something he’s proud of, he adds “you look at the baby and you kinda go, ‘This is what happened from it.’”

As for whether he or Lauren will wed, Simon says to “wait and see” and even hints at a baby brother or sister for little Eric. “I wouldn’t rule anything out,” he says. “From here on in I am not predicting anything.”

What do you think about Simon’s thoughts on his affair with Lauren?
