Lea Michele’s 3rd Single, “Louder” — Exactly 6 Months After Cory Monteith’s Death

On January 13, 2014, Glee’s Lea Michele (Rachel) surprised fans by releasing a brand new song from her solo album. “Louder” is the title track on Lea’s debut CD, out March 4, and now Billboard is streaming audio for the full track.

“Louder” is the third single Lea has released in just a month, an usually fast pace, not that we’re complaining. If she wants to release more, we’ll gladly listen to them all. (On repeat. Continuously.)

Her debut single,“Cannonball,” came out on December 10, followed by “Battlefield,” on December 27, and now “Louder” on January 13. Listen to the new song on Billboard.

In what is likely just a coincidence, January 13 happens to be exactly six months after the sudden passing of Lea’s boyfriend and Glee co-star Cory Monteith (Finn). He died of an accidental heroin and alcohol overdose on July 13, 2013.

Lea has shown incredible strength in the six months since then, staying dedicated to her work amid what must be a challenging time. Her song “Cannonball” is all about staying strong in hard times. “Louder” is along that same vein, with a message of positivity and being true to oneself.

"I always think it's so important to live your life to the fullest, and love as hard as you can love, and fight as hard as you can fight,” Lea tells Billboard. “Be loud, be bold, be yourself, whether or not people understand that message. That's what I think of when I think of the song and album."
