Glee Season 5 may have seen record-low ratings for the once incredibly successful FOX show, but the dramedy still registers with the teen audience, and it was nominated for an impressive three 2014 Teen Choice Awards — not bad for a show preparing to film its sixth (and final) season!
So who was lucky enough to be nominated, you ask?
First off, the show earned a nomination in the Choice TV Show: Comedy category alongside Austin & Ally, New Girl, Sam & Cat, and The Big Bang Theory. It was nominated in the same category last year and walked away with the coveted surfboard, so we have hopes for this one. Get it, Glee!
Next up is Chord Overstreet (Sam), who received a nomination in the Choice TV Actor: Comedy category. Our beloved Trouty Mouth will face off against Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Ashton Kutcher (Two and a Half Men), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), and Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally). Jim beat out Chris Colfer (Kurt) for the win last year, but seeing as how Chord is now on the ballot in Chris’s place, maybe Jim won’t be as lucky this time around.
And last but most certainly not least is Lea Michele (Rachel), who nabbed a nom in the Choice TV Actress: Comedy category alongside Debby Ryan (Jessie), Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory), Laura Marano (Austin & Ally) and Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project).
Lea was lucky enough to take home this honor back in 2013, and because the ceremony occurred less than a month after her boyfriend Cory Monteith’s (Finn) sudden death, she courageously took to the stage and dedicated the win to him in a heartfelt speech that still brings tears our eyes.
We’re sure Cory will be missed this year as well, and we hope Glee, Chord, and Lea all manage to snag awards this year. Will you be watching? Tell us below!
The 2014 Teen Choice Awards will air on August 10 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
