We have a feeling that Lea Michele (Rachel) will be a wreck when Glee ends after six seasons sometime next year (we’ll be sobbing right along with her!). But even though saying goodbye will be tough, the 27-year-old actress is also surprisingly ready for the next Glee-less phase of her life.
“I could do Glee for forever. I love it. I've always loved playing Rachel. I love being part of the show,” Lea tells Popsugar before admitting that she’s also ready to try her hand at something else. “It will be very emotional, but I do think it's time for everyone to move on.”
Lea and the rest of the Glee cast may be readying to say so long to the FOX dramedy, but we still have Season 6 to look forward to (although it will likely be a shortened run) before saying farewell to Glee forever, and Lea has some high hopes for her on-screen alter ego in the show’s remaining episodes. “I really hope to just get to, really get to her core and get to see the Rachel that we knew from Season 1,” she says. “It's a very interesting storyline for next year. It's very unique and shocking. But I think it all comes full circle.”
Last we left Rachel in the Season 5 finale, she was leaving New York behind and jetting out to Los Angeles to film her pilot — not unlike what Lea herself did a few years ago when she left Broadway and took a chance on a little pilot called Glee.
When asked if Rachel’s storyline was inspired by Lea’s life, the actress couldn’t deny the similarities. “It definitely was,” she revealed. “I think for this season they really kind of based it around [me], because I met Ryan [Murphy] during [my] Spring Awakening [years]. So I think that he used that as inspiration for sure.”
So does that mean we can expect Rachel to morph into a super-famous Hollywood actress by Glee’s series finale? Only time will tell!
