Lea Michele’s (Rachel) first book, Brunette Ambition is out today, May 20, and as can be expected her fans are already pouring through the book looking for funny and interesting little known facts. one such tidbit of info that readers have already come across is that Lea reveals that she briefly dated her Glee co-star Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuester) in the past.

This bombshell comes in a paragraph where Lea describes meeting her Glee co-stars for the first time. “When we shot the pilot, I met Cory Monteith, Kevin McHale, Amber Riley, and Chris Colfer for the first time,” she began. “I had worked on Broadway with Jenna Ushkowitz and Matt Morrison before. Matt had been a friend of mine for years, and in fact we’d actually dated back in the day for a Broadway beat. But strangers or not, we were all babies and completely new to the big-time spotlight.”

There had been rumors that Lea and Matt dated back in the day (there was even chatter that they were a couple in the early days of Glee) but as far as we know this is the first time Lea has confirmed it.

Since Matt plays Lea’s former teacher on Glee this news is a little strange, but at 35, Matt is really only eight years older than his on-screen former student. As we know, Lea went on to date her co-star Cory Monteith (Finn) until his death in July 2013, something that her Glee family undoubtedly helped her through.

Describing her new pals and how they came together for Glee, Lea writes, ”Cory came from Canada and drove his Honda Civic all the way to Los Angeles. Chris Colfer was from Clovis, California, and had never worked professionally in his life. Kevin McHale and Amber Riley were two of the most talented people I had ever met but were also reasonably new to the television world. It was really only Jane Lynch who was known — she was the one getting the TV show its initial credibility. We all clicked like we were brothers and sisters and were inseparable from the start."

Although there have been rumors of fights along the way, the Glee cast has always been close and we can’t wait to see what they do with the show’s sixth and final season!
