During an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman last week Lea Michele (Rachel) addressed rumors that she was feuding with co-star Naya Rivera (Santana), calling the chatter “sad,” “unfortunate,” and untrue.

Lea’s still in New York promoting her book, Brunette Ambition, and earlier this week she was on Sirius XM’s Wake Up! With Taylor. Taylor asked if the rumors of on-set feuds bother Lea, and she was very honest in her response. “Unfortunately we deal with stuff like that as actors all the time, where stories can be completely fabricated. And this was an example of something that was, unfortunately, completely fabricated,” she revealed.

As she also explained earlier this month on Letterman, Lea says the press is the source of all of theses unfortunate lies. “I think that in the press people really like to pit women against each other. Maybe it’s what sells and maybe it’s what people find exciting, but it’s so sad,” she declared. “Everyone has to understand that each person always has things going on in their own private life and then people can just create whatever they want to create.”

Throughout the course of the discussion Lea never said Naya’s name (though she came close once) but it’s obvious that the Lea/Naya feud story was the one being addressed. In fact, Lea even went a step beyond denying that a fight ever happened, because, as she explains, she wasn’t even on set the day the reported altercation took place! “And that story was incredibly frustrating too because I wasn’t even at work. I didn’t even work with…” she began before cutting herself off. “It’s pretty frustrating, but I know my relationships with people.”

Taylor also asked Lea why she never took to Twitter to dispel the rumors, and she had an interesting take on that as well. “I think the more you do that, the more life you bring to it,” she explained.

Again, though never mentioning Naya by name, Lea concluded by saying that she has no say in  other people’s future on Glee.“I think that it was hopefully made clear to everyone that any situation that has to do with someone’s future doesn’t have anything to do with me, it’s the show’s deal. Unfortunately it was just something that was completely pulled out of someone’s ass!” she dished with a laugh.

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has said Naya will be back for Season 6, so we’ll keep an eye out for her when the show returns to FOX for its sixth and final season in early 2015!
