Lea Michele Stuns in Teen Vogue: Cory Monteith and I Had “Insane Love”
We can’t believe that Cory Monteith has already been gone for six months, but for Lea Michele, he’s still watching over everything she does. Sitting down for an interview in the March issue of Teen Vogue, the pint-sized Glee star opens up about her debut album and finding strength amid the pain.
“During Glee, I felt like I was scratching that itch of being an artist,” she reveals to her best friend and interviewer, Jonathan Groff. “I was at a great place in my life and I was so unbelievably happy — my relationship with Cory made me feel like I could reach for the stars and more.”
In fact, it was Cory who really encouraged her dream of putting out an album and he supported her every step of the way. “He was such a fan, you don’t understand. [...] He heard every song and gave me notes on everything. He loved ‘Battlefield.’ I’m getting chills just thinking about it. I would say ‘Burn With You’ was his favorite. He came into the studio that day.”
And what song would Lea say is her personal favorite? “‘Your mine’” she reveals. “I listened to it the other day — it was the one song I had the most emotional reaction to, just because that’s my relationship with Cory. [...] But I somehow feel like the insane love Cory and I had for each other morphed into this strength I have right now. There’s just something about knowing he’s watching everything I’m doing and feeling like I have to do everything now not just for but for him.”
