Why Did Leah Messer and Jeremy Calvert Sell Their House?

Leah Messer was dealt a major blow when her daughter, Aliannah Hope, was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy on Teen Mom 2. This poor girl was completely unprepared for the news that Ali would eventually have to use a wheelchair, but she quickly got on board and started making the life-changes necessary to accommodate her little lady. First up? Buying a new, wheelchair-friendly home.

Leah's decision to sell the house she bought with her husband, Jeremy Calvert, was emotional, but her priorities are definitely on point. She wants a large farm equipped with horses for Ali's physical therapy — even though it means living 40 minutes away from her parents!

"The house that we bought for our first home really wasn't going to be handicap accessible for Ali," Leah explained during Teen Mom 2's Season 5 Episode 4 after show. "We looked into different options for our staircase, but it was like $30,000 for an elevator. And then even if we bought the $30,000 elevator, we had to have it inspected like two or three times a year … even though it made things harder for us, and we had to put our house up for sale, my goal and I feel like all of our goals is to do the best for Ali. And I don't think anything's gonna ever get in the way of that."

As far as we know, Leah and her family are currently living in a new home that is equipped with wheelchair access, though Ali is still able to walk. In fact, she's almost able to run!

Are you as impressed with Leah's dedicated parenting as we are? She is such an amazing mom, and her commitment to Ali and Aleeah is amazing to watch.
