It’s been a tough season on Teen Mom 2 for Leah Messer. Not only did she have some marital issues with her husband Jeremy Calvert — he threatened to file for a divorce at one point — but she finally got some tough answers in regards to her daughter Ali’s diagnosis. It turns out her little girl has the super-rare form called Titin muscular dystrophy, which is only ever found in adults. During Teen Mom’s Reunion Special with Dr. Drew, the mother-of-three opened up about Ali, and even broke down.

“You just have to know Ali,” Leah says in between tears. “She is the most sweetest little baby, I know I’m her Mom but it’s just...she would do anything for any other kid she’s playing with. She’ll give up anything. It’s like, why her?”

Leah then went on to say that sometimes Ali herself notices that she’s different than other kids her age. “She’ll ask me, ‘Mommy why do I keep falling?’” Leah tells Dr. Drew. “I tell her not to say that, and I just tell her to get up, everything’s okay.” And we’re sobbing.

The good news is that Ali is using a wheelchair nowadays (which costs around $20,000!), in order to save her energy, and of course keep up with her twin sister, Aleeah! “She loves it,” Leahs says. “I think she just feels so free.”

And we can tell! Just recently Leah took all three of her kiddos — Ali, Aleeah, and Adalynn —  to the aquarium, where Ali got to ride around in her fancy wheelchair. “Just a day at the aquarium with my babies,” Leah captioned the photo on Twitter. “It was perfect!”

Just look at that smile on her face! We’re so happy to see that Ali is getting use to her wheelchair, and her dad, Corey Simms, is finally accepting it. “I feel like he’s coming around,” Leah adds.

We can’t imagine how hard this must be for Leah and Corey, but they’re doing an amazing job with co-parenting!
