Val Chmerkovskiy: I’ll Be “Out For a While” After Dancing With the Stars Season 17

Living without Maksim Chmerkovskiy is bad enough, but could Dancing With the Stars lose Val Chmerkovskiy, too?

On October 20, Val tweeted, “When this seasons over imma be out for a while #gottagetaway.”

He’s probably just burned out from the halfway point of Season 17 and all he’s trying to say is he’ll be going on a long vacation. But some fans worried that he might’ve meant he was leaving the show, and now we’ve caught that fear. He didn’t mean that… did he?

The day before, during DWTS Week 6 practice with Elizabeth Berkley, Val shared an unhappy-looking photo, writing, “At rehearsals not feeling too good #officiallysick.”

The halfway point of the season is traditionally a tough time for a lot of stars and pros. They usually get over the hump and pick up a second wind to ride to the end — or as close as they can get. Elizabeth and Val have been doing very well so far, and hopefully they can keep the energy up.

So we’re not going to panic at this point — we’ll assume Val was just having a sick-and-tired moment, dreaming of vacay as we all do when work really starts to be a grind. Besides, he’d miss us as much as we’d miss him, right?

And there is one other possibility, too: He could just be leaving Los Angeles! Since his true home is New York City, maybe he’s packing his bags and leaving on a jet plane come season’s end.

Do you think Val will leave DWTS? Sound off below, and catch the show on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
